It's mid-August on a small island in the heart of the Colombian jungle, and new adventures await a resident troop of squirrel monkeys and its dominant female Alba. On most days, she’s out foraging for food while keeping her daughter Shakira and the rest of the gang safe from poisonous animals and stealthy predators. But now, there’s a new challenge to face; breeding season has arrived, bringing added tension between the gang’s dominant male, Samuel, and the deposed leader, Juan…and Alba’s caught in the middle of the sexual rivalry.

High in the Andes mountains of Peru, in the protected Chaparri Reserve, a small group of spectacled bears fights for survival. Orphaned Amazona, one of the preserve’s youngest females, must get by on her own. Thankfully, she has a guardian angel in Peruano, a five-year-old male who has given her vital life lessons…but he can’t babysit her forever. Time is also an issue for Peruano’s father, Tongo. There’s only a month left in the breeding season, and the only available mate is 17-year-old Cholita…and right now she’s playing very hard to get.

In the waters off the west coast of Colombia, a baby humpback whale finds himself in an urgent race against time. He was born late and has just four months to bulk up before undertaking a 5,300-mile migration south. At 16 feet, he is vulnerable to large sharks and killer whales as well as adult male humpbacks that are dangerously vying for supremacy. However, he does have help: a devoted mother who will nurture him through sickness, protect him from attack, and prepare him for the epic journey to the frigid waters off Antarctica.
