A hooded prowler, an armed robbery, a mugging on the notorious Dragon Estate, it's a busy week for the young plain clothes PCs of Sergeant Rockliffe's crime squad; PC O'Dowd is in serious trouble.

A murder has been committed and Rockliffe is given the name of a suspect which revives old and bitter memories; he worries if it is 15 years too late to do any good.

Rockliffe complains about the workload as there are drug dealers, muggers, rapists, murderers, thieves and con-men.
