On the eve of his first day as the new kid in class at the big city high school, Yamato finds himself smitten with an angel of grace and beauty. Any doubts he’ll ever catch another glimpse of his vision are promptly squashed when she shows up at his aunt’s boarding and bathhouse… As are his hopes of impressing the driven hottie!

When Aunt Ayano decides to host a back-to-school party in their honor, it’s a day of supply shopping for Yamato and Suzuka. And as the two spend some time together their irritation knows no bounds, as they differ in every possible way… Much to the amusement of all in the vicinity! A peaceful respite shared on the steps of a shrine is soon overwhelmed by the presence of all that is Yasunobu. The ultimate ladies man and playboy extraordinaire, Yamato’s not exactly in top form in the constant shadow of his “best friend.” But when the ego-driven young man acts in his friend’s interest, Yamato gets things backwards again!

It’s the first day of high school and the first day of Yamato’s new life, and with any luck it will be a change for the better. But as the other students settle into their established cliques, the young man’s left feeling more than a bit out of place. That is, until an innocent childhood memory with a cute face sweeps in to save him! Yasunobu takes the opportunity to stir things up… Just who is the player playin’ now? Unsettled, Suzuka blows Yamato off and leaves him out in the cold. Literally! Now he’s sick as a dog and off his feet, yet even out of the game things manage to go off-track around him!

It’s Phys Ed test time and Yamato is feeling pumped! But when even the girls outperform him… Things get a bit deflated! It’s down to the final event, and as the young man clocks in even faster than the school’s top sprinter, Yamato’s not the only one surprised. As he basks in the onslaught of attention, pleased to have finally found something he’s good at, Suzuka’s reaction remains completely unenthused. Distant, even. And as Yasunobu and his many manipulations enter the game, Suzuka won’t be the only one acting strange!

After an awkward embrace that left them both soaking, Yamato is seriously starting to lose it! Seeking out Yasunobu for his impeccable insight into women… The young man might have better luck were he to simply quest for the ever-elusive “Girls for Dummies!” It’s a big ugly mess of mixed signals with everyone involved misreading each other, leaving them all in the dark. As Yamato debates whether of not to go for it, he begins to worry how things might change were Suzuka to reject him. The hormones abound and the storm sets in, with no one making a move. It’s a stalemate!

Yamato learns of their unexpected break from school that Saturday and determines to spend some quality time with the girl next door. But what to do? Lucking into two complimentary passes to Fantasy Land and a few mishaps later… The date’s a go! But when the weather doesn’t cooperate and things don’t turn out exactly as planned, Yamato realizes he might never amount to more than just a friend. When inspiration strikes at long last, will it turn into a laughing matter? Or will Suzuka take it pretty seriously? Whoever said change is good didn’t think things completely through!
