Pastor John Gray counsels a single mother of three who has lost her faith after losing her home in the Baton Rouge floods. At home, John and his wife, Aventer, prepare for Aventer's parents to move in.

Aventer's close friend comes to visit the Grays for some healing after a heartbreaking divorce. John counsels a couple trying to overcome infidelity on their path to the altar.

While John tries to help a heart attack survivor take back her life, Aventer forces him to put his own health first and deal with his diabetes. John seeks Aventer's help in counseling a couple struggling with infertility.

After speaking with Aventer about the growing rift between police and the black community, John visits the Houston Police Department to start a dialogue. A desperate father reaches out to John for help with his alcoholic daughter.

As he tries to help a sexual abuse survivor, John must confront his own demons; John looks to his mother-in-law, Bonnie, to help get through to a cancer survivor struggling with negative feelings.

John meets with a single mother who is struggling to control her disobedient and rebellious daughter. Then, Aventer and John play host for the weekend to four teenage boys seeking mentorship.
