After Maggie spurns David's affections at Rebecca and Trevor's lavish engagement party, David becomes determined to take over Rivercross. But, he's in for the fight of his life - Maggie is fiercely protective of the only home her family has ever known. Peter loses Will's Porsche in a poker game, and Will wants it back - now. The possibility of losing her beloved ranch pushes Kate past the breaking point, and she tries to burn down the barn for insurance money. Is Lucy prepared to give up her rock 'n roll dream, and European tour, to save her family's home?

When The Henrys' breeder bull dies, Kate and Lucy get caught rustling a bull from the McGregors' stables. Peter gets Will's Porsche back, but makes an enemy of drug dealer Ricky. When Dillon discovers there may be oil under Rivercross, David is more determined than ever to take Rivercross by any means necessary. Charlotte takes compromising photos of Rebecca and threatens to blackmail her. Maggie is forced to sell her cherished engagement ring to keep the ranch afloat.

When the daughter of one of David's prospective suppliers enters the rodeo competition Kate is in, David forces Peter to become her trainer, leaving Kate in the dust - literally. Ricky is hot on Peter's trail - she wants the Porsche back and the cocaine that was locked in the trunk. Rebecca tricks Charlotte into keeping quiet about her affair and deleting the blackmail photos. Is Kate willing to turn down David's $10,000 bribe to throw the rodeo competition?

Lucy hires hunky and mysterious stranger Briggs to work at the ranch. The Henry herd is imperiled by an acid spill caused by David's drilling operations. Maggie falls for Dillon - but can she really date a man who works for David? Strung-out Peter brings his new coke dealer friend Ricky to a gala fundraiser, where Maggie exposes David's complicity in the acid spill and publicly commits him to a massive - and massively expensive - clean-up. While everyone is at the fundraiser, David gets Dillon to secretly test for oil at Rivercross.

Will must decide whether to protect Lucy from a lecherous client or protect a deal that his family's company desperately needs. Things are heating up between Maggie and Dillon, until David offers Dillon a lucrative partnership in the Rivercross oil reserves - and asks him to keep it secret. To protect Trevor, Rebecca seduces and blackmails a troublesome Energy Board investigator. Sparks fly when Briggs and Kate fix up an old tractor together, until Briggs gets injured and is forced to reveal a dark secret.

Charlotte's first drunken house party is also the site of her first drunken crush - the intoxicatingly cute and worldly environmental crusader Jude. Jealous of the growing affection between Kate and Briggs, Peter breaks into Briggs' truck and discovers his true identity. Rebecca catches Trevor having an intimate swim with one of his old college buddies. Dillon decides to tell Maggie about the oil under Rivercross, then mysteriously disappears after leaving a dinner party at David's.
