Fletcher Markle

Best known as the creator of the dramatic radio and TV series "Studio One" and a prolific director-producer during the 1950s "Golden Age" of television. Markle made his screenwriting and directing debut with the 1949 thriller "Jigsaw" and went on to direct "Night Into Morning," "The Man With the Cloak" (both 1951) and "The Incredible Journey" (1963). He also served as head of TV drama for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in the 1970s. Married to actress Mercedes McCambridge from 1950 to 1962.
