What is the Leagues Cup schedule and timelines in 2026?
Leagues Cup tournament returns on August 4th, when MLS vs. Liga MX teams will face off for the first rounds of competitive matches. For the first time, four first-round matches will take place in Mexico. The Leagues Cup final will be streaming live on September 6th and available for playback.
Who is playing in the 2026 Leagues Cup matches?
All 18 Liga MX teams and the 18 MLS teams that qualified based on the final 2025 MLS Supporters’ Shield standings will be competing in the tournament. The lineup of participating Liga MX teams includes Cruz Azul, Club América, and Club Deportivo Guadalajara (Chivas). From Major League Soccer, the 18 clubs include Inter Miami, LAFC, and last year's Leagues Cup champions, the Seattle Sounders FC.
When is the MLS vs. Liga MX All-Star game?
The MLS vs. Liga MX All-Star game will stream live from Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte on July 29, 2026. Last year's MLS All-Star players included Lionel Messi and Son Heung-Min, while Liga MX All-Stars featured Luis Malagón, Sergio Ramos, Sergio Canales, and André-Pierre Gignac.
What is the Leagues Cup format?
Leagues Cup 2026 consists of four phases. Phase One is a round-robin format in which each MLS club plays three matches against Liga MX clubs. Teams are awarded three points for each win in regulation, two points for shootout wins, and one point for a shootout loss. The four clubs from each league with the highest Round One point totals advance to the knockout rounds starting August 25, beginning with the Quarter-Finals, followed by the Semi-Finals, and finally the 2026 Leagues Cup Final held on September 6.
