Larry Gatlin

Larry Gatlin was an actor who had a successful Hollywood career. He also appeared in the TV movie "Murder in Music City" (NBC, 1978-79). He worked in series television while getting his start in acting, including a part on "Austin City Limits" (PBS, 1974-2015). He appeared in a number of television specials, including "Country Music Hit Parade" (NBC, 1976-77) and "Merry Christmas From the Grand Ole Opry" (ABC, 1979-1980). Gatlin also contributed music to the musical "The Gospel Road" (1973) with Robert Elfstrom and the Burt Reynolds action picture "Stroker Ace" (1983). Gatlin won a Best Country Song Grammy Award in 1976. He also contributed to a variety of television specials, including "The 50th Presidential Inaugural Gala" (1984-85), "Tennessee Ernie Ford's America" (PBS, 1985-86) and "The 10th Anniversary Johnny Cash Christmas Special" (CBS, 1985-86). Gatlin also created music for "Next of Kin" (1989) with Patrick Swayze. He also appeared in "The Legend of O. B. Taggert" (1995). Additionally, he could be seen on a variety of television specials like "The CBS Cotton Bowl Parade" (CBS, 1990-91) and "The Grand Ole Opry 65th Anniversary Celebration: The New Tradition" (CBS, 1990-91). Most recently, Gatlin appeared on the documentary "Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me" (2014) with Glen Campbell.
