Brittany O'Grady

Audiences first took serious notice of actor Brittany O'Grady when she was cast as Simone in Lee Daniels' series "Star" (Fox, 2016-). Born in Arlington, Virginia, O'Grady's first role was an inauspicious one, playing an angel in a church Christmas pageant at age three. The tiny actor fell asleep on stage, but nonetheless continued to pursue a professional career as a performer, booking print ads and TV commercials by the age of four. This work would remain consistent for O'Grady throughout her teen years, with appearances in Girls Life magazine, and a campaign as the national spokesmodel for the United States Food Stamps program. Throughout all of this, O'Grady continued to train, studying acting, singing, and dance at Virginia's Encore Stage and Studio, Synetic Theater, and Metropolitan Fine Arts Center, and New York's Broadway Artists Alliance. By 2014, she had relocated to Los Angeles and made a small appearance in an episode of "Trophy Wife" (ABC, 2013-14) in 2014. She was cast in the short lived but well reviewed fantasy series "The Messengers" (CW, 2015) the following year, but O'Grady's big break would prove to be her supporting role as the younger sister of lead character Star Davis (Jude DeMorest) in "Star." She soon followed it up with a role in the thriller "Above Suspicion" (2017).
