Season 2
Cute. Loveable. Irresistible. Yes, that’s how we all react to puppies, but here’s a few other words to describe them. Hard work, lots of responsibility, expensive, naughty, noisy and destructive. How those little balls of fluff turn out is really all up to you so in this delightful one hour special Dr Chris Brown will help make your first puppy a fabulous, rewarding experience. What we’re talking about here is the animal equivalent of a long- term relationship. It could be 14 years or longer so you have to make sure the compatibility between you and your new puppy is perfect. Just like with any new addition to the family, there’ll be highs and lows and there’ll be plenty of adjustments and sacrifices. Dr Chris will take you through the selection process and set down the guidelines such as the size of your house, exercise requirements, upkeep demands and genetic health issues. We will look at how much that little puppy will cost, the long checklist of puppy needs from beds to vaccinations and the crucial need for puppy training and socialisation. In this one hour special, we’ll follow the journey of three brand new puppy owners, all in very different situations with very different lifestyles. Single Mum, Rachael and her two daughters Laura and Kate. Their choice of a German Shepherd puppy has polarised opinions amongst their family and friends. Nathan and Karoliina. Double income, no kids, living in trendy Bondi. Is their staffy puppy a baby substitute? Are they ready for the responsibility? Elizabeth. 30 something. Single. Looking for a canine companion. Will her cavoodle become the ultimate boyfriend screener? Dr Chris will watch their three puppies, Honey, Sisu and Max grow up and at six months of age they will be given their final report cards. Who will end up being top of the class and who will be the class clown? Learn and laugh with Your Very First Puppy.
