Shinra Kusakabe, third-generation pyrokinetic who can produces flames from his feet, joins Special Fire Force Company 8 and meets the crew members, ready to fulfil his dream of becoming a hero.

When Iris suddenly goes missing, the rest of Company 8 head to Company 5's compound to try and find her.

Shinra comes face to face with Hibana in an attempt to save Iris, and is forced again to confront her ability to make his body shut down.
