"American Tarzan" welcomes five men and two women to the remote Caribbean island of Dominica and asks them to not only survive the wild but also to master it. Mimicking a time when man was truly Tarzan-like -- stalking prey, climbing to treetops, utilizing every resource to stay alive -- the competitors live off the land while they traverse a brutal obstacle course highlighted by a distinct jungle, the coast, a mountain and a canyon. They face conditions that early inhabitants tackled hundreds of years ago, relying on nothing more than basic tools, mental toughness and brute strength, until only one is crowned the king -- or queen -- of the jungle.
