The sequel to classic film noir `Chinatown' sees the return of private eye Jake Gittes in a tale of sex, murder and oil. Gittes unwittingly sets up the murder of a property developer and is forced by the dead man's wife to choose between protecting his livelihood and revealing the crime - a choice further complicated by the appearance of a face from Jake's past.
