After years of facing monsters, aliens and megalomaniacal supervillains, Clark Kent and Lois Lane face one of their biggest ever challenges, raising two teenage boys. Leaving the Daily Planet and moving back to Smallville to get closer to Clark's roots and have somewhere quieter to raise the boys, they find they have been followed there by the notorious business mogul who has just bought the paper, and by a mysterious armoured stranger who will stop at nothing to destroy Superman.

While adjusting to their new lives in Smallville, Lois and Clark make an important decision concerning one of their sons, tensions begin to rise between Lois and Morgan Edge, and Lana Lang Cushing invites the Kent family over for a barbecue.

Clark shares some of his Kryptonian history with Jordan and Jonathan during a family breakfast, and Lois and Chrissy dig deeper to uncover the truth about Morgan Edge.

Lois and Chrissy spot Morgan Edge conversing with Mayor Dean and Kyle Kushing, and the two see right through his insincere move to try to win over the town; Clark agrees to help Lois out at a town hall meeting.

As Smallville celebrates its first Harvest Festival since Martha's passing, Clark is reminded what his mother meant to him; Lois makes a breakthrough in the investigation of Morgan Edge; Kyle tries to reconnect with Lana.

Clark reconsiders his decision to let Jordan play football; Lois' continued investigation of Morgan Edge requires her to trust an unexpected ally.
