Retired vigilante Jefferson Pierce gets pulled back into fighting crime as his alter ego Black Lightning.

The community starts to suspect that Black Lightning may have returned. Meanwhile, Jefferson Pierce struggles with his decision, so Gambi urges him to take up the mantle once more and return to life as Black Lightning.

Black Lightning is recruited to rally against the 100 gang, Anissa investigates the new drug hitting the streets and familiar faces begin to reappear.

A suit upgrade gives Jefferson new powers, but takes a toll on his body. Anissa looks into the exposé her grandfather was writing when he died.

Jefferson is on the hunt for his father's killer, and Anissa uses her new powers to rectify a wrong after a protest fails. Later Jennifer grapples with some difficult choices, and Gambi begs Lynn for help.
