One Way to Moscow
Inspired by a true story. Switzerland was shaken by the Ficken scandal 30 years ago when it was discovered that more than 900,000 people were put under surveillance because of their left-wing political convictions. One Way to Moscow, is set against the backdrop of this 'secret files scandal', and it features a conscientious policeman who infiltrates a renowned Zurich theatre, in order to keep an eye on its leftist scene. The policeman finds himself quite taken with the bohemian milieu and falls in love with the subversive actress Odile Lehmann. The film was nominated for three Swiss Oscars with Miriam Stein deservedly winning the Best Actress Swiss Film Award. A critically acclaimed new foreign language movie in the spirit of Goodbye Lenin and The Lives of Others meets Toni Erdmann with hints of Kaurismaki.
