Mo Lundy (Boyd Holbrook) is an innocent man who went to prison for a murder he did not commit. Once freed, Mo looks to put the past behind him by working in a shelter caring for abandoned animals, finding peace in the encouragement from his boss, Linda (Academy Award Winner Octavia Spencer: The Help), and faith in the practice of Islam. However, Mo's tenuous stability is again upended when a desperate and blood-soaked woman, Doris (Elisabeth Moss: TV’s The Handmaid’s Tale) turns up unexpectedly at his work one night. With the intention of helping her, Mo takes Doris to his apartment but as the truth of Doris’ situation is revealed, Mo realises that by sheltering her, his newfound freedom is in jeopardy.
