Chicago-based comic Alex Moffat rose from local talent to the national stage in 2016 when he joined the cast of "Saturday Night Live" (NBC, 1975-). The Chicago native made a name for himself on the city's famed comedy and improvisational circuit, performing with The Second City, ImprovOlympic and Annoyance Theater, many of which had trained previous "SNL" cast members. Moffat worked almost exclusively in live comedy, save for the occasional appearance in a comedy short, though he was a supporting player in a straight drama, "Uncle John" (2015), which premiered at the South By Southwest Film Festival that same year. In 2016, Moffat was announced as the latest performer to join the cast of "Saturday Night Live," alongside Mikey Day and Melissa Villaseñor.
