While the rubbish mountain is growing, raw materials are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive all over the world. For decades, natural resources have been shipped to the industrialized countries and used among other things in tower blocks, mobile phones and cars. Thus, cities contain enormous amounts of raw materials. Researchers and companies are now starting to prospect for urban mines.
