Rick Roberts

Tall, dark-haired, freckled-faced Canadian Rick Roberts was touted as "heartthrob" material with his co-starring role as idealistic physician Evan Newman in the CBS series "L.A. Doctors" (1998-99). Born and raised in Edmonton, the good-looking actor trained at Montreal's National Theatre School of Canada and spent seasons in repertory, honing his craft in such classics as "Richard III" and "King Lear." In 1994, Roberts made his film debut (and copped a Best Supporting Actor Genie nomination) as a bartender in "Love and Human Remains," a dark look at sexuality and romance in the age of AIDS. He landed the regular role of an ambitious twentysomething financier in the Canadian series "Traders" (1996-98; aired on Lifetime in the USA) before displaying a more softer side in his star-making role as one of a group of physicians attempting to buck the trend toward managed care by putting their patients' needs first.
