After causing trouble at home, Seishu Handa heads to the remote Goto Island near Kyushu, where he plans to work on his calligraphy.

Seishu gets to know Naru's friends, Miwa and Tamako; Handa is bothered while trying to work on his calligraphy.

Seishu finds out that Tamako's manga draft is quite violent; Handa discovers that he has come second place in the calligraphy competition.

Handa gains a new perspective on calligraphy when Miwa's father asks him to write the name of his ship.

Handa takes the kids swimming before the next exhibition and he discovers there's more to life than just calligraphy.

Handa is confused when prodigal calligrapher Kanzaki arrives, and Miwa and Hiroshi try to get him to leave.
