Mary and Max
Mary and Max is a clayography feature film from Academy Award® winning writer/director Adam Elliot which tells the simple and affecting tale of a pen-pal friendship between two very different people: Mary Dinkle is an eight year old from Melbourne, Australia, born with an unusual birthmark, a desire for making necklaces out of shrunken chip packets, and guided by a ring which changes colour depending on her moods; and Max Horovitz, a forty-four year old obese Jewish man with Aspergers Syndrome, living amongst the chaos of New York City and harbouring an unhealthy addiction to chocolate hot-dogs and the New York Lottery. Spanning 20 years and 2 continents, Mary and Max is a poignant and hilarious story chronicling a unique bond which takes Mary from adolescence to adulthood, and Max from middle to old age, exploring a universal desire for acceptance and love, no matter how different we are.
