Farfaix and Carstairs masquerade as Germans and get captured by the Communist resistance, which results in carrier pigeons with secret messages on the café's menu.

Unable to sit on the fence anymore, Rene is forced to accompany the Resistance on their mission to blow up a rail line.

René gets captured by German troops while on a mission to sabotage the enemy. He is imprisoned by General von Klinkerhoffen, who orders General von Strohm to punish him severely.

Rene disguises himself as his twin brother to arrange his own burial. Flick insists both the Colonel and the Captain attend the event.
