Gabalawy works in Said's factory. Hassan, the foreman, grows hatred against him because he caused the loss of one of his eyes, so he complains to Said, claiming that he instigates workers against him, and that he is behind the factory’s losses, so Said decides to fire him, and Hassan beats him till he loses his memory. He travels to Cairo to work, where he is used by Abbas, a currency dealer, to run an operation, but he meets with a car accident which brings his memory back, to find himself carrying a million pounds with no owner. He returns to his village and buys Said's factory after it goes bankrupt. Eventually, Abbas, the currency dealer, finds him and pursues him to get his money back, but to no avail, and finally, Gabalawy is murdered by an unknown hand.
