Ted's views on life and love change when he re-evaluates a shirt he previously disliked. Meanwhile, Barney offers Robin money to say outlandish things live on air.

Ted prepares to move to New Jersey. He also argues with Marshall over an outstanding bill for the flat, the gang recount their many interventions on each other throughout the years and Barney poses as an old man.

Lily and Marshall are dismayed when they hear that Ted is meeting up with his college girlfriend Karen who they find pretentious. Meanwhile, Barney plays a prank on Marshall which embarrasses him and Lily.

Barney approaches a personal milestone: sleeping with the first woman he hits on seven nights in a row. However, is Barney using this to cover a bigger problem? Elsewhere, Lily and Marshall realise that they've been using the same toothbrush, Robin waits to hear back from a date and Ted insults one of his students.
