Jim tries to convince his friend Danny (Dan Aykroyd) not to back out on his wedding plans with Laraine (Laraine Newman).

Cheryl wants to go to the opera after a long time, but is rebuffed by Jim, a culture vulture. Instead, he introduces his wife to an elderly widower, a big opera fan, so they can go together.

Cheryl lies to her cousin Mindy and claims she is the singer of Jim's band. Mindy then invites her to perform at her engagement party, so they have to try to get Cheryl out of the band as soon as possible.

Cheryl gives Jim a revealing photo of herself as a Valentine gift, and he proudly shows it off to his friends.

Confident Jim is mortified when he loses the annual hot-dog-eating championship to a petite woman. To make matters worse, the woman then agrees to go on a date with Andy.

Jim is shocked to learn that an old friend is to be buried with a rare baseball card he once stole from Jim.
