Upon discovering that he is the holder of a winning ticket, Earl is hit by a car and the ticket blows out of his limp hand as he lies unconscious in the street. While recovering in the hospital and watching television, Earl has a karmic epiphany.

During their high school days, Earl ruined Randy's chance to score a touchdown during a key American football game, so Earl tries to figure out a way to make things right.

Earl tries to win a beauty pageant trophy for Joy to make up for breaking one that she had won, so he enlists the help of her former nemesis, but Joy wants to stay on Earl's list so that he will owe her a hot tub.

Earl loses his list in a tornado, the high winds also bring a religious experience for Catalina, and Joy is offended when Darnell says that he is smarter than her, and tries to prove him wrong.

As the festive season approaches, Earl tries to win Joy a car to make up for all the times he ruined her Christmas. Problems arise when he finds out that her racist dad thinks they're still married and Earl's just back from the war in Iraq.

Earl decides to return a hot dog cart that he and Ralph stole, but Ralph has other incendiary ideas forcing Earl, Randy, Joy, Catalina and Darnell into a stationery stealing spree.
