Follow a remarkable group of people who have left normal society behind and moved to remote Alaska. Now, with winter almost upon them, they must use the last days of good weather to hunt and stock the freezers.

A 56-year resident, Sam, makes the most of what he has. In order to extend the wear of his boots using mink oil, he must first find and trap the minks on the island to keep his boots in good condition.

The Axeman Cometh
As the fisherman head out to sea again, Sam tries to hunt down a fresh haul of halibut. As the winter months draw a close, some new opportunities open whilst others near their end.

Residents deal with the forces of nature once again; Curly takes on pesky beavers in an effort to support the community.

Spring arrives in Port Protection, bringing new opportunities as well as more chores.

The Widow-Maker
Curly tries to be a good neighbor by helping his friend Jiggy. The community celebrates springtime.
EPISODE 6
Tree vs. Truck
Hans and Timbi set out to put up a greenhouse in order as the spring sun shines through. However, the rest of the town attempts their chores through batches of rain, sleet and snow.
