Tramell Tillman was passionate about the performing arts at an early age, acting on stage in his native Maryland. He went on to attend Jackson State University, then the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, graduating with an MFA in Acting. From there, Tillman made his way to New York City where he continued to hone his craft, appearing in a number of plays Off-Broadway, in addition to making appearances in regional productions at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and the Cincinnati Playhouse among others. His first on screen credit came in 2015, when he appeared in an episode of the comedy "Difficult People" (Hulu, 2015-17). In 2018, it was announced that he would play a role in the series "Dietland" (AMC, 2018-), based on the book by Sarai Walker.
