S4, E7: Following his failed wedding in 4006, Junior and Kris avoid each other. Kris is busy improving Flame’s time by racing Wildfire alongside him, while Junior, at Davis’s urging, throws himself into his turbine project. Matt enters Flame in the Dupont Stakes. They just need a jockey. Pablo considers Davis’s offer of partnership at Davis Farms and Jean wrestles with her own feelings about Raintree’s future. Matt warns her that they are close to losing their stall at the track but Jean hesitates to renew it. At the clinic Dani deals with horse owner MR. FIELDING, who is on the racing board that took away her license. Kris’s training with Flame fires up her racing passion and she vows to get her license back but she’ll need Jean and Pablo’s signatures. Jean agrees right away but Pablo refuses. Mr. Fielding is so impressed with Dani’s clinic he puts a good word for with the board. Dani uses that to appeal on Kris’s behalf. She cautions Junior not to bury his feelings but Junior ignores the advice and goes to a investor meeting Davis set up, but a nearby wedding causes Junior to breakdown. Kris makes a passionate speech to the board but they refuse to reinstate her license. When she asks why, Mr. Fielding tells her it’s Congressman Nichol’s doing. Kris meets Lance, her replacement jockey. On race day Jean notices that Matt has purchased the stall for his own ranch and she’s hurt by the news. Kris is forced to watch the race from the box despite feeling like she’s done all she could to make amends. The race finishes with Flame the victor over the Davis’s horse Tamarac but despite that Kris feels like was on the losing side. She tells Matt that she can’t sit on the sidelines as a trainer. She has to give up racing. Davis tells Junior the investor liked the product so much that he wants to see another presentation, despite Junior’s breakdown. Kris goes to Pablo to ask him why he won’t forgive her. That’s when Kris figures it out. Pablo won’t forgive Kris because he’s in love with Jean. Impressed by Dani’s advocating on Kris’s behalf, Mr. Fielding reinstates her license. Pablo accepts Davis’s offer. Jean offers Pablo his old job back as Raintree is going to race again but it’s too late and Pablo is forced to refuse. Junior goes to Kris to talk things over with her and she tells him what the Congressman did and that she knows she’s the real reason Junior called off his wedding. It can’t be like this and Kris leaves. Kris goes to Matt and resumes her place as Flame’s trainer.
