U.S. Airborne Forces over the Normandy
Over 13,000 Allied paratroopers were deployed to support the landing forces during the invasion of Normandy in June 1944. Securing important individual targets in the rear of the German defenders, as quickly as possible were given as orders. However, due to difficulties in dropping off, many of the paratroopers ended up outside the sections intended for them, so their forces were greatly split up.
