Martin Rütter
Animal psychologist and dog training expert Martin Rütter is known throughout German-speaking Europe not only for his related TV appearances, books, and instructional DVDs, but for multiple live, touring comedy shows on the subject of canines and their owners. A native of Duisburg, Germany, Rütter studied animal psychology at the ATN Akademie für Tiernaturheilkunde Schweiz (Switzerland). He set up his first dog training center in 1995 while developing his own non-vocal, non-violent approach to training called DOGS, short for Dog Oriented Guiding System. Eventually operating over 100 schools throughout Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, he co-authored his first book on the subject in 2004 and became a popular TV guest in the region. Rütter got his own documentary series, Der Hundeprofi, on the VOX network in 2008. During its four-season run, he expanded into fiction, publishing his first novel, Wie Immer Chefsache, in 2010. That same year, he worked up a live comedy show about dogs and their handlers and took it on the road, resulting in his first live DVD, Hund-Deutsch, Deutsch-Hund, in 2013. Another live program, Der Tut Nix!, followed on DVD later in 2013, and his third touring show, NachSITZen, was released in 2015. ~ Marcy Donelson, Rovi
