Billy, Jean-Claude and Suzie learn about gold prospectors from a comic and set out to search for gold in the river.

Billy and Suzie plan to make a hazelnut cake for Jean-Claude's birthday. However, Billy discovers that his father's stock of hazelnuts is stolen.

Discovering that Jessy Dog takes part in rodeos, Billy decides that he wants to do the same. However, it is unclear how he will manage without a horse, but Scott's rocking chair is available.

Billy takes Jean-Claude, who catches a cold, to see Dede Rabbit and asks if he can lend a scarf to protect Jean-Claude's throat.

After taking a swim in the river, Miss Goatie finds that her stagecoach has gone missing. Impatient to see all the new books in the library, the children decide to go in search of it.

Billy wants to go to Old Jack's house to bring him hazelnuts, but Scott refuses because of the fog.
