Aksel Borgen was acquitted for the murder of his then girlfriend, Karine, 20 years ago; when he returns to his hometown people are once again reminded about the unsolved murder and Aksel realizes that he is not welcome.

People in the village are starting to see Aksel as an asset to the company and are willing to forget the past.

Aksel will have to stay until a new leader of Solar Tech is found; Aksel's family was hit hard when he disappeared so he attempts to repair old wounds.

When Angeline and her son Tim arrive in Lilfjord, Aksel is forced to tell Tonje about Karine and his past; Solar Tech is doing well but when Lars makes a mistake, Aksel is forced to ask Angeline for help.

Angeline dosen't think Aksel is innocent anymore and he needs Tonje's help to convince her otherwise; William looks for a new project to invest in; Eva tries to get Erik to testify that Aksel gets violent when he drinks.

After receiving revealing images of Karine, Aksel wants take up the hunt for the killer; Solar Tech must let people go and Lars is forced to lay-off his friends.
