Die Rosenheim-Cops
TV Show · Comedy · Crime

Anyone who has navigated the Irschenberg following the A8 on a beautiful summer day is immediately compensated with the most spectacular view that a German highway has to offer: ahead lies the Inn Valley with lush pastures and old farms; to the right, farther back, the Alps; and to the left, behind the next range of hills, you can catch a glimpse of Lake Chiemsee. In the heart of it all is the city of Rosenheim. "God's own Country," as the Americans claim, lies between New York and San Francisco. The people of Rosenheim know better. Unfortunately, even in this Bavarian idyll in the foothills of the Alps, there are bad people who do not shy away from crime, and there are police officers who solve these crimes. Murder remains murder – whether in New York, Berlin or Rosenheim. However, the approach to solving crimes is a little different under the white-blue Bavarian sky. It is not as hectic and grim. Here, people know each other. Here, people are not only victims, perpetrators and police officers, but first and foremost human beings. Some flashing lights sequences or patterns may affect photosensitive viewers.

The Dead Man at the Lake
Detective Superintendent Ulrich Satori is really pissed off at having been transferred from Munich to the countryside. On his very first day, he is called to a crime scene at the crack of dawn. A dead man with a bashed-in skull has been found on the shore of Lake Chiemsee. Ulrich learns that the "yokel" he is trying to chase away from the crime scene is his new colleague, Detective Superintendent Korbinian Hofer. The latter, for his part, doesn't care much for the "pompous city slicker". The dead man, Paul Brenninger, worked as a mailman and lived far beyond his means. Thus, he drove a sinfully expensive Harley, the sale of which got him into an argument with the well-known folk music singer Andi Urbauer on the night of the murder. However, the cops' first target is Georg Huber, the owner of a golf hotel. The hotelier is engaged to the attractive Lena Hirschfeld, who had an affair with the murdered man. Eventually, divers recover the murder weapon from the lake: a golf club! Did the cuckold use it to beat his rival to death? It appears that Lena is convinced of it, because one morning she shows up at the police station with a pistol and threatens to shoot her fiancé. The detectives, however, have doubts about having caught the real culprit. In the end, a key puts them on the right track: to the benefit concert of folk musician Urbauer. The Rosenheim cops have cracked their first nut, and a small rapprochement also takes place on a private level: When one of Korbinian's cows' calves, Ulrich courageously lends a hand – in a tailor-made suit.

    Hush Money
Marie's birthday is coming up, and Korbinian has promised his sister that the old attic will be cleared out by then. Moreover, he has to get her a present – Ulrich barely manages to talk his colleague out of buying her the obligatory bottle of cologne. A phone call relieves the duo of their "duties"; a jewelry store has been burgled. A short time later, the two small-time crooks Gregor and Sascha are arrested while trying to resell a valuable watch taken from the stolen goods. The case seems to be solved. But Gregor and Sascha claim to be innocent: a certain Lansky allegedly gave them the watch as collateral because he had damaged their car in an accident but wanted to keep the police out of it. The story sounds somewhat bizarre, but Korbinian believes them and decides to set up a lineup. Instead of identifying Lansky, however, Gregor and Sascha suddenly claim they have never seen him before. Gregor and Sascha see their chance to finally get their hands on the big money, and blackmail Lansky. However, a criminal with multiple serious convictions is a bit out of their league. When the cops try to arrest the two small-time crooks for their own safety, they suddenly disappear. Time is running out. The cops manage to solve the case, but they are too late for Marie's birthday. Aggrieved, she goes to a wellness hotel. Her brother finally had a loving present for her though – he even made it himself!

    Hops and Malt
In the middle of the procession in honor of the Virgin Mary, brewery owner Andreas Veitl learns via his cell phone that his wife Katharina is cheating on him with master brewer Hannes Dachtler. Moments later, he gets into a fight with his rival in the brewhouse, until Veitl suddenly remains motionless on the floor. Dachtler flees, believing he has accidentally killed him. Soon enough, the cops confirm his fears: Veitl is indeed dead. However, he drowned in the brew kettle. Consequently, Dachtler is sure that he is not the murderer. But who is to believe him? A little later, he and Katharina actually find themselves being blackmailed by Markus Veitl, the dead man's brother. He is holding a video from the brewery's surveillance system in his hand. It's getting hairy for Dachtler... In the course of their investigation, Markus Veitl draws the attention of the cops. The siblings had been at odds for years, and Ulrich discovers that Markus was being financially sabotaged by his brother. A motive for murder? At the very last second, Ulrich and Korbinian manage to prevent a second murder and convict the perpetrator.

    Blind Love
Right from the morning, Inspector Korbinian is in a bad mood. A stranger has parked their car in the middle of his yard. The car wouldn't prevent Korbinian from driving the tractor; he is just jealous that his colleague Ulrich is constantly picking up women. But on that day, of all days, Korbinian falls in love with a woman named Elfie. Unfortunately, Elfie is the girlfriend of a suspect in a new murder case. The cook of the Dudelberger, a bistro in Rosenheim, was shot dead at night. The main suspect turns out to be the owner, Kilian Gollinger. He owed the murdered man a fair amount of money. The fact that Elfie gives her friend Gollinger an alibi for the time of the crime is particularly bitter for Korbinian. He suspects that Elfie is not giving him the alibi voluntarily, but out of fear of Gollinger. Besides, Korbinian has really fallen for the attractive, fitness-conscious Elfie. As a result, Korbinian even starts to go for evening runs in the woods, which earns him sneering comments from Ulrich. In this case, however, his search for the truth and his wishes for love end up forming a happy symbiosis, because Korbinian succeeds in persuading Elfie to retract her alibi. Ulrich follows his own trail, because at the time of the murder, an old mill near Rosenheim burned down. Ulrich has a strong suspicion that the two events are connected, especially since the owner and Gollinger are old friends. A gasoline can, a gas station video, and ultimately Korbinian's ill-fated love finally help solve the case.

    The Secret of the Chiemsee
It is not a good day for Korbinian. Not only has Ulrich, once again, complained about the unsanitary conditions of his barn apartment and threatened to pay less rent, but his very rich and very annoying heiress Rita also suddenly appears on his doorstep and wants to move in with him for a week to enjoy the fresh country air. Fortunately, Ulrich has just decided to move in with a friend so that he can finally take a warm shower for a change – which means that the apartment is available for the difficult old lady. Stockl's call concerning a new corpse comes in handy for Korbinian to escape Aunt Rita's whims for a while: a tourist has been found dead on the Baumgartner farm. Rat poison in young Eva Windeck's breakfast coffee has sent her to the afterlife. Suspects are quickly at hand, namely the farm owners – Simon Baumgartner and his son Michael – as well as the intern Britta, who is pathologically jealous. However, when the cops find out that the young victim had not been staying at the farm, but had in fact shared a dark secret with the residents, they quickly find themselves on the murderer's trail together.

  • EPISODE 6
    Firebird
Korbinian is asked by his sister Marie to participate in a horse bet, since she has dreamed that stable owner Loibl's "Feuervogel" would win the race. But as Korbinian learns from Bobby that "Feuervogel" is in very bad condition, he places Marie's money on a different horse. Feuervogel does win the Grand Prix of Bavaria, however, and Korbinian is hard pressed to explain the situation to his sister. Shortly after the race, Loibl is trampled to death by a panicked horse. The perpetrator locked the horse stall from the outside while Loibl was inside and threw in a firecracker, thus causing the horse to panic. Korbinian becomes suspicious. Didn't he have the feeling that all was not in order at the horse race from the very beginning? Perhaps the motive for the murder can be found in the vicinity of the racecourse. But first, there are more obvious suspects: Loibl had a mistress who wanted to start a new life with him. Debts, however, forced him to return to his wealthy wife. It is quite possible that the deserted mistress was unwilling to grant the wife this triumph. Ulrich, already convinced that love and jealousy are the most popular motives for murder, clearly favors this lead. Korbinian, on the other hand, is much more intrigued by the behavior of the taciturn stable boy Naumann, whose exaggerated love for the horses seems strange even to Korbinian. But can such a simple mind be suspected of murder at all? The solution of the case turns out to be the explanation for Korbinian's lost bet as well, giving him a certain satisfaction after all.
