Charlie Harper

At an engagement party for their mutual friends, Charlie and Harper meet for seemingly the first time. As sparks fly, it's revealed they both went to the same high school. When Charlie schemes for a particularly poignant song to play over the sound system, it's revealed further that these two have a history together. Their reconnection over their shared memory of the music, leads to a night of intimacy. Through flashbacks told from each of their perspectives as they separately reflect on their relationship, we learn what brings them together and ultimately tears them apart. They meet in high school in their small Florida town, bonding over a shared love of music, which leads to playfully sharing CDs. A chance reconnection at a house party deepens their bond. Anchored by intense chemistry and passionate conversations they become inseparable. But Harper ambitiously dreams of becoming a chef in New Orleans, while Charlie - intelligent, but unmoored - struggles to articulate his own ambitions. Faced with the prospect of losing Harper forever, Charlie chases after her and agrees to move with her and start a new life together.
