The More Things Change
Available on Garage, DocPlay, Prime Video
When Gerry Lopez first surfed Uluwatu in 1974, the fabled Balinese wave was magical, empty and pristine. Gerry returned to Uluwatu 40 years later to find it bustling, developed and profoundly changed. After a week of surfing and yoga, however, Gerry tapped into a spirit of place that continues to endure. Starting with a long talk-story, The More Things Change covers early days of exploration, the notorious Boyum brothers as well as some of the top talents in the surfing world at the time. Lopez moves on to the current state of the region, and the efforts being taken to keep Uluwatu and the surrounding area as pristine and desirable as it was when they first laid eyes on it. Directed by Nathan Myers and featuring surfing from Gerry Lopez, Dave Rastovich, Rob Machado and Rizal Tanjung.
