Alex Anfanger

Jumping into the comedy scene on the heels of the digital revolution, Alex Anfanger first began producing shorts with his writing partner Dan Schimpf when they were roommates at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. A native of Los Angeles, Anfanger stuck around in New York after graduating in 2008, as he and Schimpf shopped a sitcom pilot around to anyone willing to read it. In the meantime, the two became inspired by the ridiculousness of reality TV, specifically, the overblown preview what would happen "next time" on the show that came at the end of each episode. Before long, he and Schimpf had come up with the web series "Next Time On Lonny" (2011-2014). The concept for the hilariously absurd show was that each 3-5 minute episode was a preview of what would happen "next time" on a candid reality series about an average guy named Lonny, though the events ranged from brutal murders to alien invasions. After the first three episodes, the show's pop culture send-ups were taken under the wing of the popular humor site Cracked. By the second season, Ben Stiller's production company, Red Hour, signed on to produce the series. After three seasons, Anfanger and Schimpf moved up to cable TV, writing and producing the series "Big Time in Hollywood, FL" (Comedy Central, 2015), which starred Anfanger and Lenny Jacobson as two aspiring filmmakers toiling vainly in their parents' backyard.
