The Hecks are forced to eat out for Thanksgiving with the house in disrepair; Brick invites Cindy along; Sue tries to help Darren be accepted by Mike.

In an effort to be more social, Brick goes to the fall dance; Axl stresses over choosing a major; Sue starts drinking coffee in order to appear more refined.

It's Halloween night, and Frankie and Mike are stunned to find that Brick has invited a girl over to the house just to hang out.

Each member of the Heck family finds themselves in situations reminiscent of the classic, spooky television show The Twilight Zone.

Frankie learns that if she and Mike get divorced, the kids would choose to live with their father; Sue tries to reclaim her room from Brick, and Axl lashes out at the family for having to act sincerely around April.
