Chris and his family decide to take a trip to attend the funeral of Julius' distant relative, but while waiting for a bus, Chris and Julius get involved in a gambling scheme and lose all their money.

Chris, a first-time high school student, looks forward to attending a school with some diversity; Rochelle helps Tonya get a job at Vanessa's beauty salon, but the customers don't appreciate Tonya's brutally honest comments.

When Rochelle makes the family go to a social event, Chris is left with no time to study for the PSATs and resorts to buying the answer key.
