Jack and Jackie are in turmoil after the loss of their newborn baby. The couple are in Dallas on November 22, 1963 to heal tensions between the liberal and conservative wings of the Democratic Party prior to the start of a new electoral campaign.

Bobby blames himself for the President's death but runs for senator in New York, Jackie decides to marry Aristotle Onassis and Bobby decides to run for president but, in 1968, is assassinated.

Joe Sr. suffers a stroke, Rose feels her sons have abandoned their father, and segregation and racism in the South lead to rioting.
