The Log Lady informs Cooper and his company that a third individual trailed Leo and Jacques on the night Laura is murdered; Cooper, Hawk and Truman discover Waldo the bird at Jacques Renault's cabin.

Albert clears Leo and Jacques of Laura's murder, but has no further information on who shot Cooper; Cooper insists they must locate the third man, whom he suspects is Bob, the gray-haired individual.

An unseen attacker assaults Ronette while she is in her hospital bed; Jean Renault, the brother of Jacques and Bernard, plans to blackmail Ben Horne to secure Audrey's release; Donna visits Harold Smith, a recluse, who was a friend of Laura's.

Cooper and Sheriff Truman arrest Leland when he confesses to killing Jacques Renault and attacking Dr Jacoby, believing he was protecting Laura.
