A group of 12 beloved past contestants and 12 emerging home cooks enter the kitchen to share their love of food and compete.

It's course versus course, fans versus favourites, for a massive service challenge, with the winning teams moving on to the immunity decider challenge.

The first elimination of the competition sees contestants in a two round challenge, where the maker of the best jaffle in round one is safe, but the maker of the least impressive dish that changed their life in round two will be sent home.

The contestants split into four teams across four benches to create a dish using ingredients from a layer of the balanced diet food pyramid.

The contestants face their first immunity challenge. Choosing ingredients from mystery cloches, the contestant with the best dish wins immunity and will sit out the elimination challenge.

The two final contestants enter the kitchen for the last time, where they must impress the judges and Heston Blumenthal to take home the prize and be crowned MasterChef 2022.
