Frasier and Niles desperately search for a wealthy patron to lend financial support for their failing former prep school. Their best hope appears to be an affluent matron, especially since Martin is involved with her.

While celebrating their eighth anniversary of living together, Frasier accidentally ruins Martin's favourite recliner; Niles discovers that Daphne is completely devoid of musical talent.

Frasier interviews numerous housekeepers and finally hires a less-than qualified applicant of Martin's choosing.

Niles is suspected as an accomplice to murder when his ex-wife Maris uses his crossbow to kill her husband. Daphne is upset when Maris continually calls Niles from jail, and Frasier accidentally recommends that his brother be executed.

Lilith's friend unknowingly sets her up on a blind date with Frasier, and Niles and Daphne urge Martin to get rid of his gun.

Frasier and Niles set out in search of a new coffee house when they are annoyed by a street singer who starts performing at Café Nervosa, while Daphne's physical therapy techniques are assessed by an independent evaluator.
