While faced with the overwhelming challenge of convincing the dead passengers to crossover, Melinda encounters the evil spirit of `Wide Brim Man', who is working against her to keep the spirits earthbound. In addition, Melinda has to defend herself to investigators who want to know how and why she knew there was trouble with the plane prior to the crash.

Melinda tries to persuade the mayor to cancel the memorial, and searches for missing children with Professor Payne.

On the day of Ruby's birthday party, Cheryl becomes ill, leaving Jim to entertain a houseful of young girls while Cheryl continues to recover in bed.

Jim worries that he has lost touch with his daughter Ruby. He is hurt when she invites Andy to the father-daughter dance instead of him.
