McGee goes to a women's prison to interview a suspect in a murder case. When a prison guard is murdered nearby, the prisoners take control of the wing, fearing they will be blamed for the guard's death. McGee convinces them to let him investigate the guard's murder. Now he must find the murderer amongst all the other criminals before the warden handles the situation in his own way.

The crew runs into a quantum singularity and discovers a trapped ship, but during rescue attempts they realise that the ship in jeopardy is their own.
