After witnessing a woman's suicide, Sarah assumes her identity in the hope that cleaning out the dead woman's bank account will solve all of her problems. Instead, the street smart chameleon is thrust headlong into a kaleidoscopic mystery.

Sarah turns her suspicions toward Paul when evidence suggests the Orphans are part of an ongoing experiment. However, Paul is engaged in some investigations of his own. Meanwhile, Allison's paranoia becomes a problem.

The Orphans are pitted against each other as Sarah plans what to do next. Meanwhile, Paul does his best to conceal Sarah's existence, and Alison's retaliation on who she suspects is her monitor could come at a high price.

With the siege reaching its climax, Helena decides to seek refuge behind enemy lines; Sarah and Art struggles to protect Helena and end the siege.
