Richard Biggs
Veteran television and stage actor Richard Biggs could count during his lifetime on the fact that his two major fan bases were wholly separate. One was that of the pre-reality TV era soap opera fan, thanks to his work on a pair of melodrama classics. Biggs' first major role came in 1987 on "Days of Our Lives," and he later had a recurring role on "The Guiding Light." The other Biggs TV fan base was, and is, that of the rabid sci-fi genre fan. The series "Babylon 5" surprised most industry observers when it became a solid, long-running hit, and Biggs was very much a part of that success. From 1994 to 1998, he appeared on 110 episodes as Stephen Franklin and played the same character in an episode of the spinoff show, "Crusade." Biggs also appeared in three "Babylon 5" TV movies that aired in 1998. Up until his death in 2004, Biggs remained true to his stage roots, treading the boards in everything from "The Tempest" to "Cymbeline."
