Addie, Geena, and Zack are now in 8th grade, and everything is going fine with Addie. She is Jake's girlfriend and her new teacher prefers her better than Maris, but things soon get noisy when she accidentally releases gas.

Jealousy gets a hold of Addie when she learns that the Rocky Road Middle School girls have given Randy the new nickname `Eye Candy Randy Klein'. Addie sets out to track down and personally stop any girl who likes Randy.

When Zach finally decides to open up and tell her that he is in love with Geena, Addie is afraid that it may be the end of their perfect and long friendship. It might be difficult to stay friends after so many emotions.

Addie has never been responsible with money, and owes Geena and Zach a bundle. She pledges to give back everything she owes by getting a job, and she is also determined to keep the job to earn some dough of her own.

Addie feigns an illness to get out of accompanying her mother and father to the Tri-State Sporting Goods Trade Show.

During the last week of school, Addie goes to great lengths to avoid the eighth-grade pranksters and her feelings for Jake.
