Following her father's removal from the office of town sheriff, high-school student Veronica Mars finds herself ostracised by her peers. She comes to the aid of Wallace, a new arrival at the school who is fast becoming a victim of bullying.

Veronica and Wallace look into accusations made against Weevil, their new ally, after he is arrested for stealing credit card applications from a fellow student's family.

As Veronica finds herself overwhelmed by requests for information on her peers' parents, a serial killer on the loose precipitates Keith's return to the sheriff's department.

Veronica is called up for jury duty on an assault case. Keith helps the mayor solve the theft of the police station, and a familiar face returns to Neptune.

Wallace is falsely named as the driver in a hit-and-run, and he seeks help from Veronica. Veronica and Keith find evidence linking a bus crash victim to a new client.
